Worries

Worries

I left my window open before I went to bed.
Before I could close my eyes, thoughts filled my head.
Did I cut off the stove? Did I put away the bread?
I close my eyes and try to sleep
But the anxiety clawed at my feet.

I had to check; I had to know.
This empty worry wouldn’t let me go.
I jumped out of bed
About to run through my window
I see the sun.
